If you have copied or moved a data record to the clipboard using the Copy or Cut functions, you will be able to merge that data record with another data record.
You can specify interactively how and what information is merged between the two data records.
1 Select the source data record: To do so, click the source-language term on the Search & Find panel.
WebTerm displays the data record on the Details panel.
2 Copy or cut the data record.
To copy the data record, click the Copy button.
To cut the data record, click the Cut button.
When asked to confirm, click OK in the message box.
WebTerm moves the data record to the clipboard.
3 Select the target data record: To do so, click the source-language term on the Search & Find panel.
WebTerm displays the data record on the Details panel.
4 To paste the data record from the clipboard into the selected target data record, click the Merge button.
WebTerm then displays the following window:
Left - data record that you wish to merge on the clipboard
Right - current data record into which you wish to merge the source
5 To view the fields in the header or an entry/subentry, click the arrowhead next to Header or the entry title.
WebTerm displays the fields and their contents.
Fields that are automatically completed by WebTerm are dimmed. These fields can neither be changed nor deleted individually in the target data record. WebTerm overwrites them only if the entire header or entry is replaced.
6 Decide what is to happen to the data.
The options that WebTerm offers you for merging are detailed in Table 10-1.
7 Save the changes to the target data record by clicking OK . Click Cancel to close the window without saving changes to the target data record.
WebTerm closes the window and makes the changes to the target data record.
When merging, you can delete, copy or move data. When doing so, you can transfer data in both directions - you can copy data from the source data record to the current data record, or you can copy data from the current data record to the source data record.
The following table shows how you can delete data in the source data record or copy it to the current data record. If you want to delete data in the current data record or copy it to the source data record, you follow the same procedure the opposite way around.
