The most important setting is specifying the source and target languages for the search. WebTerm looks for your search term in the source language and displays the translation in the target language.
Therefore, before starting a search you should select the desired source and target languages.

Afterwards you can enter the term you wish to search for in the source language and then start the search.
1 Set the source and target languages for the search as required.
From the Source language list, select the language in which you want WebTerm to search.
From the Target language list, select the language into which you want to translate the search term.
If at any time you want to swap the source and target languages, click the Swap languages button.
You can save the settings you have made so that WebTerm automatically uses them the next time you log in. To do so, click the Save button.
2 Enter the search term in the search box and click the Search button.
If you wish, you can enter only the first few letters of the term you are looking for. WebTerm then automatically displays the first entry it finds that starts with those letters, followed by the immediately succeeding entries in alphabetical order.
You can also use the Windows copy and paste functions to enter the search term into the search box from the clipboard.
You can use the * character as a wildcard (see the section "Using wildcards").
Please note that WebTerm does not distinguish between upper and lower case when searching.
WebTerm shows the search results in the source and target languages:
WebTerm displays the first matching entry and those that follow it in alphabetical order.
Exception: If you have used a wildcard ( * ) in your search, WebTerm lists only the matching entries.
If WebTerm does not find a match for the search term entered, it displays the entries that follow the search term in alphabetical order.
If the term you are looking for isn't listed, you can send a request to the terminology administrator. To do so, click the New terminology request button. Please refer to the section "New terminology request" for more detailed information.
Under certain circumstances, WebTerm may show additional information or cross-references. Please refer to the section "Information in the search results" for more detailed information.
You can enter comments on an existing entry by means of the context menu. To do so, right-click the source-language term and select New comment . Please refer to the section "Request/comments relating to existing data record" for more detailed information.
By clicking the Previous and Next buttons, you can navigate to the previous or following page.
3 To view the data record details, click the source-language term on the search results panel.
WebTerm then displays the following window:
Click Close to close the window again.

When performing a search, you can use the * character as a wildcard for variable components of the search term.
To search for words beginning with corv ... - enter corv*
To search for words ending in ...vus - enter *vus
To search for words containing ...rvu... - enter *rvu*
