In Edit mode, you can check whether a term occurs in more than one data record (known as a "duplicate" ).
WebTerm runs the check on all dictionaries that you have access to. It even includes dictionaries that you have deselected on the Dictionaries menu (see here) or excluded from the terminology search by filters (see here).
The results of the duplicates search are displayed by WebTerm as a list of all entries that contain the same term in the same language. You can view the data record details for each entry in order to assess the entry.
1 Open the data record you require in Edit mode:
To do so, click the source-language term on the Search & Find panel. WebTerm shows the data record details.
Click the Edit button on the Details panel.
WebTerm switches to Edit mode so that you can edit the data record.
2 To search for duplicates, click the Find duplicates button next to the term for which you wish to perform a duplicates search.
WebTerm then displays the following window:
For each duplicate, WebTerm shows the name of the dictionary in which it was found. If you have access to more than one database, WebTerm also shows the name of the database in which the dictionary is stored.
Under certain circumstances, WebTerm may show additional information or cross-references. That information has the same meaning as when shown on the Search & Find panel. Please refer to the section "Information in the search results" for more detailed information.
To view the data record details, click the source-language term in the left-hand column.
WebTerm displays the data record details in the right-hand section of the window:
The details have the same meaning as when shown in the details of a terminology search result. Please refer to the section "Using data record details" for more detailed information.
3 When you no longer require the results of a duplicate search, close the window by clicking Close .
WebTerm closes the window. You can now continue editing the data record or exit Edit mode.
