The WebTerm interface

The WebTerm user interface clearly sets out all the important functions and information you require for your work:

Toolbar

You can use the toolbar to invoke WebTerm functions, e.g. for saving settings or editing data records. You will find a list of all the toolbar buttons in the Appendix, Section "Buttons on the standard user interface".

Settings panel

This is where you specify the settings that WebTerm is to work with. For example, you can specify in which language you want WebTerm to search or how the entries found are to be displayed. This allows you to customise WebTerm to suit your working method (see Section "Settings area").

Search & Find panel

This is where you enter the search term and where WebTerm displays the search results, i.e. the entries found (see the section 6 "Searching with WebTerm").

You can also scroll the search results up and down like in a dictionary.

WebTerm also displays the Comments list in this area when selected. The Comments list details all the comments written to the terminology administrator by users (see Section 9 "Commenting on terminology").

Details panel

This is where WebTerm displays the details of an entry selected on the Search & Find panel (see Section 7 "Using data record details").You can also edit dictionary entries in this area (see the section 10 "Editing terminology").

When you first start WebTerm, a short guide outlining the basic functions is shown in this area.

Log out button

You can use the Log out button to log out of WebTerm when you have completed your work or when taking a long break (see the section "Logging out from WebTerm").

Simple user interface and PDA user interface

As an alternative to the standard user interface, you can use the simple user interface or the PDA user interface if you wish to concentrate on the main function of WebTerm - searching for terminology.

For more detailed information on this topic please refer to the following sections:

Section 4 "Starting and using the simple user interface"
